Waymo Training Operations exists to build the necessary human expertise that enable development of critical maps, label perception data, and ensure the safety and efficacy of the Waymo driver by evaluating real-world and simulated events and building test scenarios, all done with extraordinary levels of accuracy. It also exists to ensure our operators meet regulatory compliance and skills proficiency requirements. As a Training Program Manager, you’ll be responsible for continuously driving and improving the efficacy and efficiency of several training programs across multiple service lines by working closely with stakeholders, subject matter experts, and vendors. You’ll propose and drive program revamps that accelerate leaner ramp up time and help Waymo’s business move forward.
In this role, you'll:
- Engage with subject matter experts within Software Quality Operations, Mapping, and Labeling teams to identify required technical skills and capability at all levels
- Independently conduct training needs analysis and identify training gaps with measurable impact on the business
- Independently write business requirements documents for training design and development needs and drive alignment with senior stakeholders across multiple subteams
- Effectively plan, develop short and long-term roadmaps, prioritize projects, and manage timelines and impact on concurrent training programs
- Regularly balance long term initiatives with short turnaround demands
- Generate monthly and quarterly reports on training metrics, and present plans to continuously improve training effectiveness, and engagement
- Review the final products developed by a team of vendor-based instructional designers
- Identify innovation and process improvement opportunities; document processes to ensure smooth onboarding and operation for Training and Development team members
- Work well with ambiguity, using strong problem solving, communication, and execution skills
At minimum we'd like you to have:
- 8+ years in L&D, Technical Training, or other related field with proven experience designing and implementing learning strategies, process optimization initiatives, and technical programs for people at all levels
- 5+ years of program management experience with large, complex projects and cross-functional stakeholders
- 2+ years’ experience using Google Workspace
- Self-starter mentality with the ability to work well in ambiguity, problem solve, and independently build processes and structure as needed
- Experience working with fast-paced emerging technologies
- Strong stakeholder management skills, balancing the needs of the business and learners
- Experienced writing concise documentation (e.g. business requirements, summary reports, project briefs), and delivering engaging presentations, often to senior leadership
- A desire to continuously learn and drive business impact
It's preferred if you have:
- Experience with learning management systems such as Cornerstone
- Data analysis skills, measuring ROI of Training
- Understanding of machine-learning and operations management
- Proficient in automating processes using scripting language (e.g. SQL or Python or other)
The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level.
