You will join the Volvo Cars Industrial Operations Digital team and become a part of our exciting journey towards a product-oriented software company. The team is located in Gothenburg with a special focus on the Torslanda manufacturing plant but having a global manufacturing digital responsibility. You will be part of the journey as we deliver on our company’s vision and scale our services globally. We use modern tools and agile methods to create business value continuously. We ensure high quality, availability, and adaptability in our delivery. And of course, we have fun together while doing it!
What you’ll do
In general, the Software Engineer for Deliver Car systems is part of an agile team that provides the digital functions required by the business to continuously give the operation the best support to build cars with the right quality. This means that the software engineer takes part in both discussing and understanding business requirements, interpreting the requirements into digital functions as well as making sure implemented functions always works as expected.
Deliver Car systems ensures that cars can be built according to the right standards and in the right manner. It requires them to be robust, scalable, and efficient but also to embrace modern new opportunities in order to assure we use the best technologies available. With an always-on mindset you will be assisting departments in the factory (Engineering, Operation & Maintenance) in designing, configuring, and managing solutions for their devices, tools, and applications, in line with factory and corporate standards. You will also be working closely with the local Factory Support On-Site team and be supported by global specialists and operations teams.
Do you fit the profile?
You are an engineer that have at least a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent experience in a relevant field. You have education and preferably some experience in agile development practices and collaboration tools such as Azure DevOps or similar.
We are looking for an experienced engineer who is used to influence design of a solution, as well as being a talented developer. You should also have at least 5+ years of experience from operating and supporting production critical systems in a manufacturing environment (i.e., production steering and MES systems). It is meriting if you are used to various programming technologies like FORTRAN, Java and Angular.
As a person, you are team focused and passionate about solving problems. You are flexible, open to new ideas and always looking for ways to improve. You are definitely technical but also a service minded and curious team player who loves to collaborate with others. You are energetic, forward-thinking and you push for innovation. You are good at communication, presenting and relationship building with teams and global stakeholders. You have a holistic viewpoint and are value-oriented, with an ability to inspire and motivate others in working towards a goal. You are self-motivated and have a strong driving force for quality, but also driving change and transformation. Knowledge of the automotive industry is meritorious.
You should have a general understanding of production processes and understand how all these things work together to make end user applications work and work well.
