What You’ll Do:

Consult and partner with internal and external stakeholders to independently design, develop, prepare, and maintain customized internal company documentation including processes, workflows, standards, operating models, user manuals, tutorials, policies, business schedules, technical documentation, etc.  

  • Drive planning and scheduling to gather information about needs, objectives, functions, features, and requirements. 
  • Develop and promote documentation templates, documentation management, standardization, organization, security processes, and archiving. 
  • Develop strong strategic partnerships with internal subject matter experts, both domestic and global, to ensure information is captured accurately.  Determine the clearest and most logical way to present information for consumption and comprehension.
  • Lead complex projects for assigned area

What You’ll Need to Succeed: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in English, Communication, Technical Writing, or related field and/or significant technical writing experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience leading teams and complex content initiatives for software development teams.
  • Experience using MadCap Flare, XML, HTML, and CMS tools.
  • Experience working with Agile/Scrum software development teams.
  • Experience writing for IT professionals, system administrators, or DevOps engineers.
  • Experience working with Git/GitHub.

Bonus Points!

  • Programming experience with coding languages such as Python
  • Experience with XML or Markdown-based documentation
  • Experience writing API documentation
  • Experience working with UX professionals to guide UI design for software applications
  • Experience creating process/procedure content to meet ISO compliance standards

**This role may be supported remotely in the US with occasional travel to Blacksburg.**
