Responsibilities
Tesla is seeking a highly motivated Tool & Process Engineering
Manager to lead the integration of innovative engineering and Tesla’s
Production System principals into the optimized design, manufacturing and
process development of stamping tool and dies used to manufacture Tesla
products. The ideal candidate has a proven record of success in
launching and maintaining stamping dies for new model vehicle programs,
demanding the highest quality standards, and leading highly technical Tool
& Die and Process Engineering teams in a demanding, fast paced
environment.
The ideal candidate is
well-versed in various tool and die craftsmanship skills, breakdown management,
root cause investigation and problem recurrence prevention, PM system
development and implementation, and spare parts management. They’ll work closely with cross-functional teams
throughout the entire lifecycle of the product and processes to scale up and
meet full mass production volume.
Requirements
- Engineering degree or equivalent
experience and evidence of exceptional ability - 8+ years of experience in automotive
Tool & Die maintenance and repair / press equipment management / process
engineering or related field - 5+ years of leadership experience in
a high-volume, manufacturing environment. Automotive stamping experience highly
preferred! - Proven success in team building,
coaching, and succession planning for technical and engineering personal - Capable of identifying critical
process parameters and applying statistics to process measurement and
control - Experience with process improvement
methodologies to optimize efficiency and throughput - Coach, train, and develop team
members to achieve Tesla’s standards of operational excellence - Excellent leadership, communication,
and interpersonal skills with a high degree of professionalism - Proven understanding of BOMs,
manufacturability, process design, process validation, assembly methods, design
reviews and cost reduction methodologies - Preferred data collection and
analysis experience in a high-volume automated manufacturing environment - A strong sense of urgency and
commitment to ship product
