Responsibilities

Tesla is seeking a highly motivated and passionate Technical Program Manager to join the Drive Systems Engineering team and manage program execution alongside a team of world-class engineers that are responsible for designing and manufacturing the Drive Units that propel each and every one of our industry leading vehicles.

The role requires a highly organized and detail orientated mindset along with a passion for launching new technologies with an unparalleled ability to bring people together as a single team with a single goal. Our designs, manufacturing processes and program schedules push the limits of what is physically possible. You will coordinate collaboration between Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Production to ensure our team’s goals are aligned with company priorities. You will work to understand the opportunities, challenges, and dependencies of each project, translate scattered information into a concise and complete message, and communicate to every team member. You will remove roadblocks before they impact the program and aim to make our team efficient and effective.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Engineering; OR equivalent experience and evidence of exceptional ability 
  • Experience in technical program or project management, ideally with multiple delivered projects of medium ($1M-$25M+) to large sized capital equipment systems
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Proven experience coordinating between technical and non-technical team members effectively
  • Knowledge of project management tools (MS Project, JIRA, etc.)
  • Works well under pressure and can manage conflicting priorities
  • Experience leading a team in a complex construction, production, or manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and manage large teams across multiple time zones
  • Ability to adapt to changes quickly
  • Min. 3 yrs. Experience in a mix of engineering and Project Management fields
  • Experience in both design and manufacturing is preferred
  • Experience with automation is preferred
  • Experience with high volume manufacturing is a plus
