Staff Data & System Engineer, Cell Manufacturing

Tesla

Responsibilities

Tesla is re-thinking how batteries are made from the ground up. We’re designing new factories, new equipment, new processes, and new software to rapidly scale battery manufacturing. The primary bottleneck to Tesla’s future expansion and the transition to sustainable transport and energy storage is our ability to produce and procure batteries – that’s why we’re innovating in-house, with our collection of world-class engineers, to redefine the industry. Software, data, and automation all play a critical part in this strategy.

The Data and Systems Engineering team is responsible for creating advanced analytics dashboards, creating data pipelines, and building data applications that enable cross functional teams to leverage a wealth of manufacturing, equipment, and process data both efficiently and effectively. In this role, you will contribute to and lead a small operations facing data engineering team to provide data and visualization services to the Cell Operations Engineering team, working side by side with production and quality engineers. These data analysis solutions for engineering and management customers will help steer critical operational decision making. You will partner with software engineers working on our MES system to help drive software feature definitions that will impact the type of data being fed into your pipelines. You will also work closely with finance, inventory, and other business teams to ensure that operational data is accurate, and when it isn’t you will triage, root cause and work with your team to solve discrepancies. You will be the lead and main point of contact for “data” for the operations engineering team.
