Responsibilities
Tesla is seeking a dynamic environmental professional to
join the Environmental, Health and Safety Team (EHS). The role will support various
environmental compliance programs at Tesla’s Fremont Factory in Fremont, CA. Reporting
to the Air Quality and Chemical Reporting Team Lead, the Sr. Environmental
Engineer will be responsible for performing complex technical work in a wide
range of environmental disciplines, including air quality compliance and
permitting projects, and emissions release reporting. He or she will also
manage external environmental consultants, serve as the internal environmental
technical subject matter expert, and advise and influence internal business
partners in order to achieve environmental performance goals. Be part of the
Tesla EHS Team that builds capacity, provides solutions, and drives continuous
improvement throughout the Global Tesla Organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental or Chemical Engineering,
Environmental Science, or Environmental-related discipline; Master’s degree
preferred - Professional certifications such as Professional Engineer
(PE) is a plus - Minimum 5+ years’ experience with permit compliance for a
major source facility - Knowledge of federal NESHAP/MACT/NSPS requirements related
to automobile manufacturing is a plus - Prior work in a manufacturing environment preferred
- Air permitting and compliance – NSR/Title V (CA experience
preferable) - Previous experience preparing air emission reports
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently, prioritize
workflow, meet demanding deadlines, and manage multi-faceted projects in a
fast-paced environment, where demands and priorities change rapidly - Ability to communicate effectively with production
employees, engineers, legal counsel, technical specialists, and management,
cross functionally, in a multi-disciplinary, global environment - Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making
skills - Experience managing regulatory/agency inspections
- Evidence of exceptional ability
