The Role

You will be responsible for assessing business needs, then
designing, deploying and managing tools that support the security systems
engineering and related programs at Tesla.

The Security Engineering team at Tesla builds and maintains
hardware and software technology systems that enable or extend a wide range of
security, safety and manufacturing operations functions. Your colleague
Security Systems Engineers and Technicians administer the functionality,
availability and performance of the access control, intrusion detection, video
surveillance and other technology systems that protect our infrastructure.

As a
Software Solutions Engineer for Security Engineering, you’ll help them by
building and improving software systems that expand existing capabilities or
offer brand new ways to ensure our team members, customers and property are
safe, secure and efficient.

The role
will be challenging, multi-disciplinary, and is targeted at an experienced
professional with a broad exposure to solution consulting and software
development and for distributed real-time signal systems. You will be an
integral part of Tesla’s EMEA Security Engineering team and will collaborate
with and support the global Security Engineering organization.


  • Collaborate
    with cross-Tesla teams to capture, assess, and translate complex issues into
    solution requirements.
  • Implement
    and connect existing systems, or write novel code, to resolve identified
  • Design and
    document software system architecture 
    • to include physical, functional, logical and
      software requirements,
    • to take advantage of distributed systems, edge
  • Write and
    support software tests to ensure code quality and support performance analysis.
  • Document
    and maintain thorough system component analysis, requirement, and design
  • Implement
    and improve environment-adapted software development lifecycle strategies.
  • Prepare and
    present reports for senior leadership and other key stakeholders on solutions
    and architecture choices.
  • Plan, cost
    and schedule activities
  • Assure the
    availability and uptime of security systems software through effective metrics
    development with DevOps and related teams


  • Experience
    developing in distributed network, cloud-native, or edge computing
  • Preferred
    experience with one or more of real-time video or messaging, distributed event
    coordination, ML inference, computer vision, robotics
  • Deep
    knowledge of one or more general-purpose programming languages (e.g. Python,
    C#, C, Java, Rust). Web development experience is also useful.
  • Demonstrates
    a history of hypothesis-driven continual process improvement.
  • Knowledge
    in networked physical security systems, IP video streaming, access control
    systems and other security system technologies is an advantage.
  • Occasional
    domestic or international travel may be required.
