The role

Tesla is looking for a talented and motivated Senior Staff Software Engineer to join and lead the Factory
Software team. You will join a team of software engineers working on a range of manufacturing
applications that control and facilitate the manufacturing process. The ideal candidate will have a good
balance of technical skills, strong problems solving skills, and many years of manufacturing system
knowledge. 

In this role you will work with all manufacturing teams and many support functions of Gigafactory
Berlin-Brandenburg. You have to build and maintain good relationships with many people across the
factory, to ensure that requirements and their priorities are well understood and transferred into
application code according to their expectations. Beyond that you have to coordinate and engage your
team of engineers, to not only maintain but raise the level of standards. This position offers a unique

Requirements

  • Good understanding of current technology landscape with a focus on distributed software architectures
  • Several years of experience in application development working on highly scalable systems
  • Several years of experience working in manufacturing, preferably in the automotive industry
  • Ability to understand complex integrated systems and their dependencies
  • Hands-on software development experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, energetic and a self-starter
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Good time management skills
  • Degree in an engineering field or equivalent experience, and evidence of exceptional ability

Desired skills and experiences

  • Experience as a people manager is highly desired
  • Experience of end-to-end manufacturing processes, starting from sourcing, through logistics and production, up until sales and delivery is a big plus
  • Good knowledge of Tesla products and an overall understanding of the electric vehicle landscape is highly desired
