Responsibilities

We are looking for an exceptional Senior Electrical Test Engineer to join our Hardware Test Engineering team and support the component and sub-system testing of Optimus Robot. As an electrical test engineer, you will drive design validation testing as well as the reliability of production-ready products, which means you will have key contributions to shape our exciting product during the full product lifecycle.

You will take ownership to design and establish test setups and methodologies with procedural rigor, which allow to evaluate product performance and conform to industry best practices. As a successful candidate, you have strong background in low voltage electrical system, have experience owning projects and can take responsibility to ensure a successful outcome. You will be responsible for designing and implementing test plans, conducting experiments and measurements, analyzing data, and providing reports and recommendations for the electrical, LV, and motor control systems of our Bot.

Requirements

  • BS or higher degree in the areas of Electrical Engineering (MS or above is preferred), Mechatronics, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven technical experience through internships, industry, passion projects, academic / extracurricular activities 
  • 2+ years of experience working in a Low-voltage (LV) laboratory testing environment (including relevant internship or academic lab work experience). 
  • Ability to extract essential information quickly, translate into the right actions, identify effective methods to get the answers needed, and drive to completion in a rapid yet organized manner. 
  • Genuine curiosity to figure out why something doesn’t work; demonstrated experience debugging and troubleshooting technical problems 
  • You love to be hands-on, understand how to interact with a system and automate repeatable tasks. You thrive on efficiency, and hate to see someone waste their time on something a script, fixture, or robotic system could do 
  • Embedded firmware / hardware experience and exposure or direct experience with Altium for PCB design
  • In-depth understanding of LV electronic components and motor drives and expertise in developing associated characterization/validation testing methods.
  • Proficiency in using standard lab equipment (power supplies, electronic loads, oscilloscopes, DMM’s, etc.). Familiarity in DFM, production and EOL testing is a plus.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of test automation and data analysis software (e.g., LabVIEW, Python, MATLAB, etc.), data acquisition methods, microcontroller operation and interfaces, CAN, and Ethernet-based communications. 
  • Knowledge of different sensors, what they do, and how to interact with them would be plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and thorough understanding of sophisticated electrical test setups.  
  • Remain engaged, proactive, and positive in tough circumstances. Own assignments and take full accountability for their success, with the ability to change direction quickly.
