Responsibilities

Tesla is seeking a motivated, experienced, and knowledgeable Associate Manager in Castings to support the planning, warehousing, and delivery of materials on all lines. This person will be responsible to support the short term, long term, and SOP phase of a program until the successful transition to orderly material handling is completed, then maintaining logistics and inventory for all castings yards.

In this role, you will have the responsibility to design and oversee material handling, lead a team of Leads/material handlers, and take a KPI driven approach toward meeting daily operational objectives. You will work cross-functionally material planning, PC process, engineering, mobile equipment and various other supply and logistics organizations to solve problems, drive continuous improvement, and to achieve Austin Castings production targets.

• 5 years as a material handling/logistics, supply chain manager in a manufacturing environment

• Ability to foster and develop a strong team of material handling personnel & leaders

• Ability to maintain a safe work environment by establishing and enforcing operational standards and procedures

• Thorough knowledge of the Tesla Manufacturing process and all related activities

• Ability to trouble-shoot and improve/drive resolution of operational issues

• Understands lean manufacturing principles

• Ability to meet operational and financial targets (labor efficiency, trailer management, scrap reduction, overflow management, transaction accuracy, downtime, etc.)

• Supports objectives and targets of other PC groups (Warehouse mgmt., yard mgmt., Inv. Control, material flow engineering, etc.)

• Flexible mindset to change, create or adapt to new processes

• Integrity, enthusiasm, and team spirit

• Thorough understanding of replenishment and lineside presentation strategies

• Superior skills in inventory management and material control

• Ability to navigate significant ambiguity and provide direction to the team

• Strong knowledge of batch changeover and revision change execution

• Lean manufacturing principles implementation experience

• Highly resilient and flexible
