Disclaimer: This position is expected to start around May 2023 and continue through the entire Summer term (i.e., through August/September) or into early Fall 2023 if available. We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time, for most internships. Please consider before applying. International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school on your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying. Again, please do not apply until you know you can work 40 hours per week. This is required for external applicants. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year.

About the Team   

Tesla’s Mobile Robotics team designs and builds humanoid bi-pedal robots (Tesla Bot) to automate repetitive tasks and wheeled robots for manufacturing and autonomous logistics. The team joins mechanical, electrical, controls, software, and manufacturing engineering disciplines in a highly collaborative team  


The Mobile Robotics team is seeking a highly motivated mechanical engineering intern who thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants to work on cutting-edge mechanical systems for our robots. Within the Mobile Robotics group, you’ll have the opportunity to work with incredibly talented engineers who are responsible for many of Tesla’s innovations. We love when candidates show real-world mechanical projects they’ve designed.  



  • Working toward BS or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or Mechatronics  

  • Proficiency in designing parts and assemblies using 3D modeling software (CATIA preferred)   

  • Experience drafting engineering drawings and conducting tolerance stack-up analysis (GD&T bonus)   

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment
