Responsibilities
Tesla is seeking a highly motivated engineer to develop new processes and high-volume automation equipment with the Drive Unit Assembly team in Reno, NV. These production lines include highly automated manufacturing systems to assemble motors, inverters, gears and gearboxes into completed drive units through functional testing and pack-out. You will work closely with Tesla’s internal Product Design, Controls, Safety, Quality, Facilities and Operations teams and lead cross-functional design activities with automation equipment vendors to develop and deploy new Drive Unit manufacturing lines. You will assume full ownership of the design, development, and optimization, as well as lead the technical transfer of the tools to Tesla Operations, qualifying them for use with the highest standards of safety, quality, and output.
Requirements
- Automation equipment design and development experience
- Manufacturing process specification and evaluation experience
- Manufacturing data analysis skills
- SolidWorks or other 3D CAD skills
- BS degree in engineering or 2+ years relevant experience
