Responsibilities

  • Tesla is looking for an innovative and motivated senior Instrumentation & Control Engineer to join our Construction Design team. Our controls team drives to create the factory of the future by overseeing the design of cutting-edge large scale equipment and utility systems in support of highly innovating manufacturing process. This position is for a full time, on-site.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in and engineering field (majors in: electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, control systems, computer science and engineering, mechatronic engineering, automation engineering) or higher
  • Minimum 5 years work experience in heavy commercial and industrial sector (manufacturing, datacenter, hospital, campus, etc)
  • Promote and protect Tesla’s reputation as a cutting-edge company producing the world’s most exciting cars and shifting the paradigm of personal transportation worldwide
  • Strong desire to be a part of a world class team focused on achieving amazing results
  • First principles thinking and problem solver
  • Proficient with central utilities (HVAC, medium voltage compressors, bulk chemical storage and dispensing/distribution systems, etc)
  • In depth knowledge of electrical standards (NFPA 79, NFPA 70, UL508A)
  • In depth knowledge of safety standards (ANSI/RIA15.06, OSHA, NFPA 72, ISA-61511)
  • Proficient with writing technical specifications for process or manufacturing equipment
  • Proficient with configuration of controls networks including:
    o Field bus networks (ProfiNet, DeviceNet, Ethernet/IP, Safety rated field bus networks)
    o Serial communication (RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, ProfiBus, BacNet) between PLCs and instruments and microcontrollers
    o Ethernet communications between machine PLCs and database systems
  • Proficiency selecting appropriate circuit protectors, wire and cable, sensors, safety hardware, PLC hardware, remote I/O, VFD and instrumentation
