Role
Tesla has an outstanding opportunity available to join the Fire Maintenance team at our Fremont Factory. The Fire Maintenance team maintains the fire & life safety systems at the factory and surrounding properties as well as new fire/life safety systems as the factory continues to grow. Team members also respond to emergencies involving the fire/life safety systems.
Responsibilities
- Attend training sessions as required by Tesla, read and understand assigned materials related to emergency response, fire systems and fire prevention
- Performs general inspection, testing, troubleshooting and maintenance on fire extinguishers, fire sprinkler/suppression systems, fire alarm systems at various properties
- Accurately maintain and complete all required documentation
- Study the location of building layout, fire hydrants, sprinkler systems, alarm systems and Knox boxes at various properties
- Identify, track and help mitigate life safety concerns
- Implement more efficient strategies for inspection, testing and maintenance of fire protection systems
- Assist with scheduling maintenance tours and managing the inspection and maintenance database
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old and have High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Ability to communicate concisely, clearly and effectively in both written and verbal form
- Basic computer skills with knowledge of MS Word, Excel, etc., and able to learn other company software
- Ability to act in accordance with Tesla requirements as well as State and Federal laws, regulations, operational procedures, policies and statutes
- Familiarity of California Title 19 and California Fire Code, NFPA 25( California edition), NFPA 13, NFPA 14, NFPA 2001, NFPA 101, NFPA 72 and NFPA 10
- Understand classifications of fire
- Know various types, size of fire extinguishers and extinguishing agents and automatic extinguishing systems
- At least 2 years of maintenance experience with fire sprinkler & suppression systems and fire alarm systems, fire pumps and private fire mains
- Willing to take the initiative, self-starting
- Able to use basic hand tools safely
- Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to handle occasional overtime
- Follow and relay instructions and information quickly and accurately
Preferred
- NICET II Certification Inspection and Testing of Water Based Systems, Certified Sprinkler Fitter, Certified Fire Inspector (IFSAC or State of California) or combination of the above
