Engineering Technician – Low Voltage Integration


The Role:

Tesla is seeking an
engineering technician to join our low voltage electronic systems team. This
role will build up testers and execute electronic testing at the component
level for the 12V integrated electronics system.  Projects are open
ended and often with limited up front guidance. The successful candidate for
this position must have a broad background in automotive maintenance and
testing. Must be a self-starter and able to figure out how to do things.


  • Work with engineering teams to perform low voltage
    electronics tests
  • Perform complex rework of vehicle harness at the component
  • Custom PCBA rework and soldering
  • Organize data for review
  • Create custom test fixtures for testing/fault injection
    and instrumentation


  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Experience with PCBA level rework for through hole and
    SMT components (down to 01005)
  • Experience with in-vehicle level harness rework
  • Experience with multimeters, current clamps and
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills
  • Experience with MS office tools especially excel

Preferred skills:

Experience with execution and documention in-vehicle
test plans

In vehicle testing includes but not limited to:

§  Electrical/Communications
measurements of vehicle while stationary

§  Electrical/Communications
measurements of vehicle during dynamic maneuvers

§  Fault
injection into vehicle

Experience with CAN tools such as Vector CANape
and/or PCAN explorer
