About the team
Tesla Energy Projects
team is looking for a highly motivated individual who is excited about solving
real-life issues around renewables integration. As an intern in this position,
you will have an opportunity to work with a real time controller
hardware-in-the-loop (CHIL) supporting project specific testing and power
system model validation/benchmarking.
Responsibilities
- Use a variety of
commercial and in-house software to run tests, analyze data, and troubleshoot
(SEL Quickset, SEL RTAC, Pcan explorer, SSH shell, Typhoon HIL, Matlab) - Design signal, power,
and communication cabinet wiring to integrate new equipment into CHIL tester
(in-house control boards, meters, RTAC, third party wind and PV controllers,
etc.) - Troubleshoot hardware
and software issues - Write code to integrate
equipment into overall test automation platform - Write and modify python
test automation scripts - Post-process and analyze
test data - Present results and lead
discussion in a small group setting.
Requirements
- Currently working
towards a BS, MS, or advanced degree in a relevant engineering program such as
Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering - Familiarity in a major
programming language such as C/C++, Python, Rust, or Java, and strong
scripting skills - Read, interpret, and
diagnose schematics, wiring diagrams, and circuits. - Familiarity with Linux
environment - Good grasp
of testing methodology, automation, and modeling concepts - Demonstrate good
understanding of software fundamentals including software design, algorithm
development, data structures, code modularity, and maintainability - Background in power
systems, renewable energy, or modeling a plus - Experience with real
time simulation or hardware in the loop testing a plus - Ability to work
independently; detail-oriented and execution focused
