Disclaimer: This position is expected to start around May 2023 and continue through the entire Summer term (i.e., through August/September) or into early Fall 2023 if available. We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time, for most internships. Please consider before applying. International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school on your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying. Again, please do not apply until you know you can work 40 hours per week. This is required for external applicants. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year.

Our year around program places the best students in positions that they will grow both technically and personally through their experience working closely with their Manager, Mentor, and team. We provide an experience that allows for the intern to experience life at Tesla by given them projects that are critical to their team’s success.  

About the team

As a member of the Concept Art team, you will be responsible for the creation of sketches, renders, illustrations, and models at the Tesla Design Studio. You will work on a wide range of projects such as vehicles, products, robots, architecture, and environments.


  • Pursuing a University degree in Entertainment Design, Fine Arts, Design, Illustration or similar
  • High technical proficiency in sketching, illustration, and photoshopping for the purpose of creating concept art and keyframe illustrations
  • High level of skill creating 3D models using applications such as Blender, Zbrush, 3DCoat, Maya, 3DS Max, Unreal, Godot, Fusion 360, Solidworks, etc
  • Ability to create compelling renders, visualizations, animations from concept models
  • Excellent at creating and maintaining cross-functional working relationships
  • Exceptional visual and oral communication skills
  • Must be self-motivated and able to manage multiple parallel-path projects


  • Animation
  • VFX and video editing skills (After Effects, Premiere, etc)  
  • Experience working with VR
