The Role
This role will play a key part in designing and implementing Tesla’s compensation programs and providing excellent client facing compensation support to regional teams. You will be a key member of Tesla’s world class People team, ensuring the success of the function and striving for continuous improvement. This position is primarily compensation focused, although you will partner with the local benefits lead in thinking through Tesla’s total reward value proposition.Compensation Partner roles require ability to juggle multiple tasks, handle sensitive information, make sound business decisions, influence business leaders, manage details, and deliver results on a company-wide scale. Strong track record in compensation framework design and consulting is definitely needed for success. The requirements of this role can evolve so you need to be a flexible person with a solutions orientated mindset.
Responsibilities
  • Play a governance role in the creation, negotiation, and review of compensation programs and business rules. Determine all methods needed for running successful global and local programs
  • Educate and partner with leaders and members of the People organization to drive and ensure the success of Tesla’s compensation programs
  • Provide ongoing support for staffing teams to appropriately align packages align with our competitive practice and philosophy.
  • Diagnose gaps between current and desired state. Perform as needed cyclical and ad hoc analysis and planning to continuously improve our compensation programs and processes.
  • Use strong communication & analytical skills to drive understanding of compensation philosophies, practices and administration among leaders and managers and assist in cascading to all levels of the organization.
  • Support regional requirements inputs for companywide compensation tools ongoing development and launch to ensure the best product for our employees.

Requirements

  • Extensive HR and Compensation experience including experience with US-based multinational company or consulting firm. Must have a good understanding of broad-based compensation programs (base/bonus/equity), pay for performance, benchmarking/market data, job evaluation, etc.
  • Commitment to getting the job done no matter what it takes.
  • Possess high level of integrity. Be widely trusted, direct and truthful, with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships and gain confidence.
  • Solutions and client service-oriented, with an emphasis on problem solving.
  • Deep understanding of local compensation practices and market surveys preferred.
  • Experience with startup companies preferred.
  • Fluency in English essential; additional European languages desirable.
  • University degree required. Business administration, finance, economics, or other quantitative focus preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Deep interest in analyzing data and the ability to see beyond the numbers to drive sound decision-making.
  • Proven organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and work well in an environment with competing demands.

Ability to work in a team environment with a high sense of urgency.
