The Role
Tesla’s Cell Materials group is looking for a highly motivated Maintenance and Reliability Engineering Manager to work on a critical challenge facing the world’s energy transition – Battery Cathode materials. This includes the development and scale-up of novel, high-energy and low-cost cathode materials and the development of first-of-a-kind processes that shorten the path from mine to battery cell.
The candidate will lead current sustainable production as well as new model and/or equipment introduction when required. They must be capable of collaborating with cross-functional teams and department leaders to address concerns and issues that affect part quality, production efficiency, work cell ergonomics, and equipment maintenance.
Responsibilities:

Direct leadership of maintenance and reliability engineers, maintenance day staff, and maintenance supervisors

Develop and implement the plant’s overall preventive and predictive maintenance programs

Manage maintenance supervisors to provide 24/7 operating capability

Analyze and optimize Asset Mechanical Reliability metrics to drive OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness).

Responsible for maintenance resource loading and work force management for maintaining production and utility equipment for both daily maintenance and equipment turnarounds

Establish a maintenance prioritization and critical equipment list, coordinate a system and workflows for managing the daily prioritization for the maintenance team.

Establish and manage a consumable warehousing parts area, set up the area for Lean manufacturing

Establish asset criticality and reliability bad actor programs

Coordinate with production and engineering groups for routine equipment outages, unplanned maintenance, and change management.

Lead for maintenance and reliability improvements, and equipment upgrades.

Develop and maintain proper documentation of all necessary equipment maintenance records, procedures, periodic maintenance tasks, and equipment changes (electrical, spare parts upgrades, mechanical) in the CMMS system.

Develop maintenance productivity KPIs, including maintenance budget and reporting, to maximize equipment availability and minimize unplanned downtime.

Maintain spare parts inventory: identify/order needed parts and maintain tracking system.

Train and direct maintenance associates to support production requirements
Requirements:

Mechanical or Chemical Engineering degree

5+ years of experience in production line maintenance and reliability leadership role
-
8+ years of experience industrial equipment maintenance and reliability engineering
-
Experience in team building, coaching and succession planning for technical and engineering personal.

Maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment

Lean manufacturing skills and systems development
