Business Cost Analyst, Powertrain – Fremont


The Role:
The Business cost analyst will be responsible for analyzing cost data for each cost center, identify opportunities for cost reduction and work with the team to drive cost reduction projects in Powertrain – Fremont, CA. This includes understanding business operational costs on a weekly/monthly basis, breaking down the cost structure into basic elements and working with team to drive cost reduction initiatives. This role requires good cross-functional interaction and leadership.
Successful business analyst will be highly proactive and self-sufficient on cost analysis, identifying opportunities and driving reduction projects in a fast paced, dynamic environment with good analytical skills.
  • Analyze and break down the cost structures (LOHD & OPEX costs) into categories, % of total cost, CPU for each category for each week, month and quarter.
  • Translate the cost metrics (CPU for labor, OPEX categories, downtime etc.) into relatable terms or KPIs for the production, maintenance, and engineering teams.
  • Making the consumable cost items, usage, and areas obvious to the production team to enable the team to identify cost reduction opportunities.
  • Identify cost reduction opportunities/projects and work with the team to implement/track project completion.
  • Review POs and expenses to identify essential vs non-essential expenses, when needed and recommend what expenses could be deferred, reduced, or eliminated.
  • Understanding if we are on-track to achieve the labor and OPEX cost reduction targets QoQ and keeping the team informed on the weekly progress.
  • Present cost/spending reduction opportunities to leadership to drive change.
  • Expectation to champion and take accountability of cost control within the department.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or background in Business administration, Accounting or Finance
  • 2-3 years of experience analyzing business costs and expenses
  • Experience using Microsoft office products, reading/interpreting data and dashboards
  • Experience in databases such as SQL and Tableau preferred, but not required
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Can communicate with technical and non-technical team members effectively
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and collaborate well
  • Ability to analyze data and draw action items from the results
  • Comfortable with unstructured, incomplete, and ambiguous data.
  • Works well under pressure and can manage multiple priorities simultaneously
