Sr. Manager, People (Manufacturing)

We are seeking a Sr. Manager, People to provide strategic HR partnership across the manufacturing teams. Our plant in Normal, IL is home to more than 6,000 employees and 650 members of our management team. Our manufacturing departments include Battery, Body, Stamping, Plastics, Paint, two General Assembly lines, Production Control, Maintenance and more. We partner with our manufacturing teams to bring our amazing products to life and delivered to our customers. The Sr. Manager will lead a team of 10 and be assigned specific functional areas within Manufacturing to collaborate closely with plant leadership to optimize the implementation of full life-cycle HR and leadership programs in support of organizational effectiveness. 


  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations as required. 
  • Provides guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning. 
  • Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation. 
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the Employee Relations, Security and Legal departments as needed/required. 
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale and increase productivity and retention. 
  • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the Centers of Excellence and site leadership to develop solutions, programs and policies. 
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned within the scope of the position.


  • Education Requirements
    • Minimum 10 years of experience resolving complex employee relations issues.
    • Bachelor's degree preferred
    • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) preferred
  • Physical Requirements
    • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. 
    • Prolonged periods of walking and standing at times. 
    • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
