Senior Technical Program Manager – Cell Operations

Role Summary

As one of our Technical Program Managers, you will oversee Manufacturing Engineering projects from concept through launch, including conceptualization, design, procurement, installation, commissioning, and turnover to Operations. This role will focus on the development of Rivian’s core factory equipment and processes. This role will support Rivian’s Cell Manufacturing team, which is focused on developing and industrializing the next generation of our battery cells. The opening will be located at our Hayward, CA facility and reports directly to a Cell Operations Production Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Support Cell manufacturing teams with the launch project organization and tracking open items to closure.
  • Create and modify Microsoft Project or Smartsheet schedules.
  • Gain holistic knowledge of the product, production processes, and manufacturing technologies in order to understand and mitigate risks, as well as to recognize optimization opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain risk assessments to mitigate timeline and cost impacts.
  • Ensure the project team is prioritizing tasks and completing them to meet project milestones.
  • Understand product and equipment spec changes on manufacturing equipment.
  • Work with stakeholders to understand the critical actions necessary to integrate their requirements into the manufacturing line.
  • Coordinate and effectively run meetings to resolve issues related to manufacturing equipment installation and upgrades.
  • Communicate equipment and product specification changes with equipment integrators.
  • Interface with and manage on-site installation planning with equipment integrators, production, and other cross-functional groups.
  • Provide project status reports and updates to department leadership

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of manufacturing engineering or manufacturing project management experience 
  • 3+ years designing and launching equipment and process into manufacturing environments. 
  • 2+ years in a project manager role facilitating a cross-functional team to deliver projects. 
  • Knowledgeable in high and low volume manufacturing (proto-typing, OEE, equipment selection, DFM, 8D, CAD)
  • BSE/Masters degree in in Material/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or similar technical field
  • Highly collaborative mindset and strong communication skills 
  • Experience in the EV Powertrain or Battery Cell Manufacturing is preferred
  • Preferred: PMP certification or EV Powertrain or cell manufacturing experience
