Internship Term: Summer 2023

Rivian internships are experiences optimized for student candidates. To be eligible, you must be an undergraduate or graduate student in an accredited program during the internship term with an expected graduation date between Fall 2023 through Fall 2025.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that the system you work on is functionally safe and complies with the ISO 26262 series of standards and other relevant standards
  • Understand item definitions including system architectures
  • Derive safety concepts
  • Specify functional & technical safety requirements for system as well hardware and software requirements
  • Define and execute system & integration tests and verification & validation tests
  • Perform safety analysis including FMEDA and DFA analyses
  • Coordinate and execute creation of functional safety documentation according ISO26262
  • Conduct reviews to ensure functional safety standards are being met throughout the entire safety life cycle

Qualifications

  • Must be currently pursuing a bachelors, masters, or PhD degree at an accredited university. Masters is preferred.
  • Actively pursuing a degree or one closely related in Electrical Engineering
  • Automotive industry experience preferred
  • Understanding of the ISO 26262:2018 standard
  • Ability to identify problems/failures/scenarios that lead to hazards in complex systems
  • Experience with FMEDA, FTA, FSC, TSC
  • Experience with tools like JAMA for requirements, Plato in doing FMEA is considered an advantage

Salary Range/Hourly Rate for Internships: The range of pay for internships is 25.00-51.00 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on location, and other factors permitted by law.

Rivian provides robust wellness benefits, and a medical insurance package for interns, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
