Due to aggressive growth plans Polestar is currently looking to recruit a Senior Design Engineer – Exterior Mechanism’s.

Key Objectives & Responsibilities:

The Senior Design Engineer will be familiar with one or more of the Exterior Mechanism’s commodities which include charge flap & port, wash & wipers, locks& latches, mirrors, door regulators, glazing and sealing.

You will have the following skills-

  • At least 5+ years’ experience working within Exteriors/Mechanisms from studio surface feasibility/concept phase to production readiness.
  • Understand package requirements and construction of swept areas and keep out zones where applicable.
  • Appreciate ergonomic and everyday usability / perceived quality.
  • Deliver design proposals in line with component technical specifications and system requirements.
  • Design and construct CAD models in line with best practice tooling and manufacturing methods.
  • CAE, FEA , DVP & DFMEA understanding – process of design maturation.
  • Cross functional understanding and integration- BIW, closures, electrical modules, interior trim, EDS and exterior hardware.
  • Competent presentation skills when leading design reviews or other meetings.

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years relevant automotive design modelling experience using Catia V5 and high level of exposure to exterior mechanisms. Includes part modelling and complex assemblies, kinematics for creation of trace and keep out zones an advantage.
  • TCE experience also preferred but not essential.
  • Good working knowledge of the Microsoft Office sweet and familiarity working remotely using Teams/Zoom or other collaboration tools.

Academic Requirements

  • Degree qualified or equivalent preferred.
