Due to aggressive growth plans Polestar is currently looking to recruit a Senior Design Engineer – Bumper systems.


Let us describe the challenge we offer

We are looking for a proactive, experienced design/CAD engineer to join our exteriors team at Polestar UK. You’ll be a part of the painted plastics team, based in Coventry UK, working on an exciting future programme. Travel between our UK sites would be expected, with potential of business travel in EU and China on occasion.


What you’ll do

At Polestar, you will be part of a cross-functional and international team, with English as a natural language for written and spoken communication. Since Polestar’s in a scale-up phase you thrive by working in a fast-paced environment.

In this role, you will be part of a team responsible for bumper systems and other painted plastics parts across the vehicle on a number of car programs. As senior design engineer you will own the CAD, overall design and integration of a number of components on an exciting future program.

You will:

  • Work closely with key suppliers to deliver component designs from concept through to production
  • Manage the CAD packaging with both the Supplier(s) and internal teams.
  • Ensure high quality technical input is shared with the design studio at the appropriate milestones
  • Coordinate cross functional inputs/outputs for Styling, Package, Vehicle Integration, CAE, Test, Manufacturing, Service, Quality and Safety
  • Manage and release data in Catia through the TCe system
  • Support RFI and RFQ process with purchasing including generation of related engineering data
  • Support development of best-in-class Design & Engineering standards, DFMEAs.

Who you are

  • Flexible, enthusiastic individual who is self-motivated and able to work well under own initiative.
  • Degree qualified or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant automotive design modelling experience using Catia V5.
  • TCE experience also preferred but not essential.
  • Good understanding of CAD methodology and best practise, including GD&T, 3D PMI
  • Familiar with regulations affecting bumper system
  • Good working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and familiarity working remotely using Teams/Zoom or other collaboration tools.
  • Clear and confident communicator, able to work in English with suppliers and colleagues globally.
  • Commercial awareness in relation to supplier manufacturing techniques.
