This vision considers GHG emission free product development all the way from initial raw material extraction to the manufacturing of individual components and finally to the production of new Polestar vehicles.

It is no longer purely tailpipe emissions that the industry should be focusing on, but the embedded impact involved in the overall supply chain.

The Polestar Exterior R&D team have a project engineer, considering initiatives which will feed directly into Project 0, including key research into:

  • Adhesives
  • Sealing & rubber mouldings
  • Glazing


Let us Describe the Challenge we Offer

We are now seeking a committed and collaborative colleague who wants to join us with the primary responsibility to support the wider team in the manufacture of a C02 neutral vehicle by 2030.

This role focuses on the technical definition and application of adhesives, sealing and glazing.

You will be part of our Global team developing these products for a sustainable future.

This will explore in depth manufacture of these items and new technologies onto vehicles, interacting across engineering functions and attribute teams.


Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

Polestar’s R&D teams are based in Sweden and the UK. You will be working with many different areas of the business with a key link into Polestar 0 Project Exteriors R&D team. As part of being the project lead you will:

  • Working closely with Polestar 0 Project counterparts based in the UK and Sweden
  • Supporting technical discussions with suppliers, internal teams, partners, academic institutions, and other stakeholders alongside area specialists
  • Preparation of reports and feedback to the project management team
  • Responsible for highlighting new system developments required to deliver new product content
  • Educate and support co-workers within the functional teams on sustainability
  • Single point of contact representing Polestar Project 0 for suppliers for these key materials
  • Act as a company ambassador for Polestar and the exteriors team
  • Be prepared to scope projects, develop work packages including labour, testing, tooling and external resource, develop and manage project timelines and present out project status to all interested stakeholders within Polestar.
  • Use supporting data (such as LCA) to promote and support delivery of sustainable solutions throughout product portfolio, as well as Polestar 0 Project


Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • At least 5+ years of previous relevant experience delivering projects within automotive or similar field
  • Great understanding of Adhesives, Sealing / Rubber, Glazing or experience in the field of advanced materials and research for department/area at a relevant institute or materials supplier
  • Excellent communication and co-ordination skills with a proven track record in managing projects and cross-functional work groups
  • Engineering/engineering related degree.

Other recognized engineering qualifications combined with relevant experience may be considered

  • Work permit to work in the UK or in the European Union
  • Excellent with Microsoft Office Applications
  • Self-starting ability with a pioneering spirit and resourcefulness


Desirable:

  • Experience developing sustainable solutions for automotive applications
  • Direct experience working with LCA (life cycle analysis)
  • Experience building and presenting business cases
  • CAD exposure, although not essential
