The Senior Manager of Trade Compliance is a leadership position requiring an experienced professional who will be responsible for all aspects of trade compliance for Lucid Motors. The role executes global trade compliance requirements and metrics; mitigates corporate, executive risk and exposure to penalties and fines from non-compliance with government regulations. You’ll lead a team of trade professionals globally managing daily import/export activities including daily interaction with customs brokers, vendors, couriers, freight forwarders and third-party logistics providers. Maintain import and export documentation, audits, and post entry programs in accordance with laws and policy. Develop trade compliance metrics and reporting. Drive a corporate cross-functional consensus behind a shared vision of trade compliance, collaborate with other departments to integrate trade considerations with business systems and processes. Lead compliance programs and initiatives, including new product introduction (NPI) efforts, country expansion strategies and development of cross-functional relationships at the peer and leadership levels. The successful candidate will have spent time launching new plants and/or new products in an automotive manufacturing environment, prior experience with EV vehicles preferred. The ideal candidate will exhibit a can-do attitude and approaches this opportunity with determination.
What you will do:
Experience with import and export regulations, HTS classification and customs valuation
Experience with FTZ – Foreign Trade Zones
Experience in project management, stakeholder management, and problem-solving
Experience in trade and logistics enterprise systems and implementation
Ability to present and be a convincing public speaker
Analytical and consulting skills as well as an aptitude for business strategy
Interface with stakeholders regarding challenges and disruptions due to trade issues, root cause and design mitigation strategies
Recruit and build a high-performing Trade Compliance Team
Scale team, processes and systems to meet growth projections
Participate in broker management processes, such as selection, qualification, SOW and performance evaluation
Define and drive development and implementation of needed processes and systems
Develop and automate departmental metrics / KPI’s
What you bring:
10 years of relevant experience within an in-house trade compliance department, accounting/indirect tax, international trade consulting, trade law, or related discipline.
U.S. Customs and PGA interface
Strong computer proficiency in MS Office applications and SAP experience re: SAP-GTS is a plus
HTS Classification and Schedule B
Master Database Maintenance
Antidumping and Countervailing Duties (AD/CVD)
Free Trade Agreements (FTA)
Country of Origin
Hand Carry and Charter shipments
Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Trade, Supply Chain, Logistics or related field.
U.S. Customs Broker License
Reporting Structure and Travel:
Role will be located in Newark, CA and will report to the Director of Logistics.
