The Senior Counsel of Compliance is responsible for the day-to-day operation of Lucid’s Ethics & Compliance program for the Middle East, with a particular focus on the key market of Saudi Arabia. Based in our Riyadh office, the role will help establish and develop the activities of the Ethics & Compliance function in the region, communicate and train Lucid’s standards to employees and select third parties with whom Lucid does business, and execute the process through which Lucid ensures a culture of honest and ethical conduct. This challenging and fast paced position requires an individual who is a team player with strong interpersonal and organizational skills, attention to detail, the ability to problem solve, juggle multiple projects, and adjust work accordingly to adapt to tight deadlines. This role will report directly to the Associate General Counsel of Ethics & Compliance at Lucid’s HQ. This position will also be required to absorb certain other legal tasks to support the region as needed. 

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Be primary compliance contact for Lucid’s Saudi Arabia / Middle East operations
  • Working with team at Headquarters, lead the development of a regional plan to establish and promote the Ethics & Compliance program
  • Assist in developing regional third-party due diligence processes and operate the same once established
  • Assist in internal investigation of ethics and compliance issues
  • Communicate and train on Ethics & Compliance policies and procedures
  • Develop Ethics & Compliance training materials for the region
  • Periodically and as needed help prepare reports or presentations for any Ethics & Compliance related matters
  • Keep informed regarding pending regional changes, trends, and best practices and assess the potential impact of these changes on organizational processes
  • Work collaboratively with other teams to identify and manage overall compliance requirements to help meet stakeholder expectations
  • Support the Legal team and local business partners on discrete Legal workflows as needed

    Qualifications:

     

  • Deep knowledge of Saudi Arabia business practices and governmental operations
  • Previous experience dealing with government agencies in the region
  • Experience advising on local, U.S, and international anti-corruption laws, anti-money laundering laws, export controls / sanctions laws, etc. 
  • Law degree with 6+ years of experience working in fields related to Ethics & Compliance at a large company or law firm
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to communicate ethics & compliance related concepts effectively in Arabic and English
  • Demonstrated success working with other teams 
  • Demonstrated experience implementing large-scale programs
