Lucid Motors is seeking a Director of Sales for the US based out of our headquarters in Newark, California. This position will develop and execute a direct-to-consumer sales strategy for Lucid. This role will provide consumers a differentiated purchase experience that redefines luxury vehicle sales and creates customer advocates now and well into the future.
The primary responsibility of the Director of Sales is to create strategy and tools to ensure sales and delivery targets are achieved while providing a world-class experience of the Lucid brand. This role will have a direct impact on defining the retail experience for our customers and teams under the greater Lucid umbrella.
Our ideal candidate is a curious problem solver who sees opportunities and pulls from various experiences in automotive (sales, finance, re-sale, operations, marketing, fleet sales, new product launches, service and parts, distribution, etc.) to meet and exceed Lucid’s goals. They should be results oriented, motivating, diligent but empathetic, and committed to providing exceptional customer experiences.
The Role
Overall responsibility for Lucid’s retail operations across the US, including sales performance, vehicle deliveries, retail locations, and customer experience
In concert with market plans and retail readiness, develop clear roadmap plans to achieve sales, revenue and volume targets with focus on vehicle nameplates and trim levels to influence purchasing, manufacturing, and budgeting decisions
A continual evaluation of both quantitative and qualitative data. Prioritize sales and KPIs and then staffing, leadership, etc.
Activate a digital outreach strategy that improves customer connectedness through the purchasing funnel from awareness, consideration, shopping, purchase, and ownership
Participate in product decisions, representing local markets; provide timely critical consumer feedback to iterate product decisions
Develop and nurture personal relationships with customers and retail stakeholders.
Ensure retail locations maintain compliance with all federal, provincial, and local requirements and regulations.
Remain current with industry trends and monitor the strengths and performance of the competition.
Select markets where Lucid’s global direct-to-consumer sales standard can be effectively implemented and well-received
Design and staff an organization that can perform the work necessary to achieve Lucid’s sales goals; create an inclusive workplace and diverse team.
Provide professional development, oversight, coaching, and mentoring of staff to ensure engaged world-class talent
Establish governance to monitor progress to plan and activate remedial actions to course-correct performance, where necessary
Qualifications
At least 15 years of experience leading regional teams and multiple retail locations.
Automotive experience required, particularly in luxury vehicle sales. Candidates without automotive experience will not be considered.
A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business, marketing, or related discipline preferred. Business-based graduate degree – Master’s in business administration or similar (economics, commerce, marketing) – strongly preferred.
Familiarity with CRM tools required.
Proven track record of having developed effective teams, and quantifiable history of successful sales results.
Comfort around higher management, and effectiveness at executive-level stakeholder communication.
Combined experience in both retail automotive sales and brand manufacturer
Experience in creating luxury and post-luxury experiences.

Competency in Microsoft applications including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook

Act as a role model for pipeline management with a strong hands-on approach to educate and coach team members on how to evaluate both Studio and individual data to deliver a high success rate of forecasting and achieving goals.
Able to analyze data to guide strategic planning
Comfortable giving effective presentations to and facilitating meetings with all levels of the organization
Ability and willingness to be hands-on with all elements of field operations.
Ability to acquire a sales license and maintain a current driving license
Expectation to travel ~70% with weekend and holiday work

Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.
· California (Bay Area) – $185,000-$264,000
Additional Compensation and Benefits: Lucid offers a wide range of competitive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance, vacation, and 401k. The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in Lucid’s equity program and/or a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing such programs. (Cash or equity incentive awards, if any, will depend on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and company performance.)
