The Sr. Design Release Engineer (DRE) – ADAS Sensor & HW will be part of the ADAS/AD team, developing and integrating new ADAS and Autonomous driving functions such as Highway Pilot and Auto-Parking systems, while leveraging Camera/Radar/Lidar based Sensor Fusion Vehicle control systems in Karma vehicles.  

Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to):

  • Create and maintain Sourcing Strategy for a Multi-Sensor (Camera/Radar/Lidar/Ultrasonic) ADAS/AD Compute Platforms.
  • Create and maintain Component level requirements.
  • Benchmark and define component requirements with respect to image aspects (e.g. FOV, HDR, Low Light Performance, Depth of Field, Super-Resolution Imaging, Image Stabilization, Visual Odometry, Image Stitching).
  • Benchmark and define component requirements with respect to object detection and classification aspects (accuracy of object detection/classification and object distance estimation, estimation of object trajectory prediction, etc.)
  • Manage the ECRs for releasing the modules and attachments in the BOM system.
  • Work with suppliers to define the Device transmittal of the module and work with Harness team to define the correct connections.
  • Package the modules and attachments at CAD and actual vehicle level (Electrical connections, Communications, etc.)
  • Review CAD 3D Model and GD&T for accuracy.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional module groups to ensure proper integration (e.g. Fascia, Thermal, Crash Safety).
  • Test the module electrically on bench and vehicle.
  • Take CAN logs and analyze data for performance.
  • Support diagnostic team to make sure that the module is compliant to Karma diagnostic requirements.
  • Create component test matrix/legs in accordance to Karma DVP&R.
  • Review the DFMEA/PFMEA with supplier and provide input.
  • Perform Calibration, Functional Testing, and Experimental Validation.
  • Support SQA in supplier PPAP process.
  • Work with Karma plant personnel to support any activities at the plant, such as calibrating the modules and EOL testing process.
  • Visit supplier’s plant to become familiar with their manufacturing process.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Good understanding of ADAS System of Systems: System Architecture, Functional and Technical Requirements, Software/Hardware/Sensor specification, Functional Safety, and Cyber Security.
  • Experience with Hardware in the loop systems for development/debugging tasks.
  • Practical knowledge of CAN bus and Experience using Vector tools such as “CAN-case” and SW packages such as CANoe and CANalyzer.
  • Experience with Model based design/C++/embedded software.
  • Basic knowledge of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001:2015) and Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001:2015), as applicable.
