Purpose

To provide management and professional expertise in the preparation of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) financial statements.

~ Direct professional staff in technical areas of financial reporting requirements to comply with IFRS and GAAP audited financial reporting and review staff work product.

~ Interface directly with HMC Finance Staff to resolve financial reporting issues and to comply with HMC reporting standards and deadlines.

~ Supervision of staff is direct and specific. Occasionally, will consult with supervisor on unusual and/or extremely difficult, high impact items.

Major Responsibilities

~ Manage financial close calendar to comply with HMC deadlines. Consult directly with HMC staff to resolve deadline challenges and conflicts.

~ Provide direction to staff on the preparation of income statements, balance sheets and cash flow statements, in accordance with IFRS and GAAP standards.

~ Research accounting issues using authoritative professional resources, such as, Financial Accounting Board Standards (FASB) pronouncements and International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS) and other authoritative sources. Write up formal position paper references, analysis, and interpretation, and recommend course of action for external auditors.

~ Review consolidation and adjusting entries required to produce the IFRS and GAAP financial statements.

~ Perform first level review of financial statement work papers through final work product.

~ Maintain SAP system reports and develop new reports as required. Work with Financial Planning and Analysis to set up new business units, general ledger accounts. Coordinate general ledger account set up and mapping to HMC Global Chart of Accounts.

Major Responsibilities (continued)

~ Review year-end schedules for external auditors and respond to audit questions.

~ Analyze financial statements and account details. Analyze business transactions and reports and prepare journal entries as required.

~ Maintain the SAP General Ledger chart of accounts and the mapping to HMC global chart of accounts and support the Global ledger system project from HMC.

~ Sales Incentive Accounting – Oversee all aspects of retail and wholesale incentive accounting; working with business units to establish appropriate provisions and contra-revenue recognition timing.  Supervise staff to assume increasing levels of responsibility.

~ Maintain SAP/ILM system to achieve a high level of automation for incentive accounting.

~Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR / K-SOX) – Manage annual compliance of ICFR audit with external auditor and actively monitor all departments to maintain appropriate financial controls in compliance with audit requirements.

~ Assist the Senior Group Manager, General Accounting and Controller in training other accounting personnel.

~ Develop and execute special projects as required.

Authority

~ Manage direct reports, allocate workload and responsibilities, provide guidance and direction, and support professional development and growth.

Education

~ Bachelor’s degree required.
~ Master’s degree a plus

Related Experience

~ Eight + years of experience of which at least three years are directly related experience in financial report preparation.

~ Five + years of supervisory experience desired.

~ Bi-lingual English-Korean preferred to interface with HMC Finance staff.

Skills/Knowledge

~ Thorough knowledge of general accounting methods and principles (GAAP).

~ Ability to analyze complex business transactions.

~ Excellent verbal and written skills required.

~ Proficient in Excel, Access, Word and state of the art computerized financial accounting systems.

~ Interpersonal skills to manage staff in a collaborative manner.

Certification Required

~ MBA, CPA or CMA desirable

$95,850.00 – $142,000.00 Annual
