Senior/Staff Hardware Test and Validation Engineer – Electronics

About the role:
As one of our Senior Hardware Test and Validation Engineers you will develop hardware tests and validation plans based upon the requirements provided. You will design test profiles, run and manage these tests, collect and interpret the data and submit test reports summarizing the results. You will work closely with other teams to ensure that your tests and test-plans meet the needs of the project goals and provide valuable feedback to the design process. You will run tests internally as well as working with external vendors for the testing and validation of our state-of-art autonomy components and systems. 

You bring experience with electronics testing and validation including electrical testing, EMI/EMC testing, RF testing, network testing, and sensor testing and characterization. Ideally you have experience with performance and qualification testing of electronics in an automotive use-case.

This role is based out of our Mountain View, California office and requires an on-site presence for at least 4 days a week as well as occasional travel within the USA and Canada.

 

What you will do:

 

  • Create Test and Validation plans for the electronics in our autonomous trucks.  
  • Test components to industry standard specifications and test procedures.
  • Design test cycles and procedures where applicable.
  • Operate the tests internally and outsource the testing as appropriate.
  • Benchmark the reliability and performance of selected electronic components.

  • Collect measurements, and process and interpret data.
  • Generate Test Reports and provide feedback to the design teams.
  • Create internal standards and procedures for testing and validation.

    What we are looking for:

     

  • 5+ years of engineering testing and validation experience in the hardware space with a strong focus on electronics testing and validation. 
  • Experience with EMI/EMC, RF, electrical, network, communication, performance and qualification testing.
  • Experience in planning and executing electronics tests to industry standards.
  • An engineering degree in mechanical, mechatronics, electrical or electronics engineering, or physics, or an equivalent field, plus relevant professional experience
  • Experience with data acquisition systems for testing and data processing.
  • Experience processing and reporting test dataExperience in designing test fixtures
  • Hands-on electrical skills (soldering, measurements, harness manufacturing).

  • Experience in using measured data to create HALT tests for accelerated testing.
  • Experience with sensor technology such as camera, ultrasound, lidar, and radar
  • Coding capabilities to automate workflows (scripts for data processing and analysis)MatLab, MatLab/Simulink or Python fluency
  • Experience in the automotive, trucking, aerospace, robotics, or automation industry at a production scale.
  • Simple PCB design experienceExperience with programming microcontrollers for test automation
  • Experience with designing and deploying HiL tests.
