Manager – Engineering Workshop

Your Role:

This role is responsible for managing and completing the preventive maintenance, retrofits and repairs of designated vehicles. Ensure all vehicle related maintenance, retrofit and repair documents as well as other diagnosis or testing related documents are complete. Provide additional support to Manufacturing, Vehicle Testing, Special Programs or Projects and other Engineering vehicle related activities as needed.


  • Ensure a safe working environment
  • Coordinate requests from various engineering departments
  • Develop and or maintain weekly work plans
  • Manage and complete the preventive maintenance, retrofits and repairs of designated vehicles
  • Confirm all vehicle related maintenance, retrofits, repairs, diagnosis and testing related documents are complete
  • Keep shop equipment maintenance and certification records 
  • Provide and update weekly project status reports
  • Provide guidance to team members
  • Adjust the fitment of exterior and interior parts
  • Diagnose and repair noises
  • Create parts or fixtures from metal, plastic and wood materials
  • Remove and replace battery, drive unit, subframe, suspension, brakes, electrical components, etc.
  • Remove and replace interior components, instrument panels, seats, center consoles, carpet etc.
  • Supply input of how the car is functioning and driving
  • Benchmark vehicles
  • Rework prototype parts
  • Work closely with component engineers
  • Flash module software
  • Apply and remove glazing for the removal and replacement of windshields, liftgate glass, etc.
  • Diagnose and repair high voltage A/C systems using R134a and Y1234yf refrigerant
  • Document findings during diagnosis or testing
  • Diagnose, create and execute a test plan depending on the issue with a vehicle or part
  • Communicate with the CAN systems on a vehicle using Vector, PCAN, Intrepid and other DAQ devices
  • Test drive prototype vehicles

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • 5+ years of experience in leading or supervising a team
  • 10+ years of automotive mechanical, electrical and assembly experience
  • Experience in vehicle development and manufacturing
  • Understanding the risks of and how to diagnose high voltage electrical systems
  • Experience in electric or hybrid vehicles
  • Understanding of heating systems and coolant system functionality
  • Experience in the crimping of connectors, soldering wires, splicing wires and creating a harness
  • Understanding of Ohm's law and usage of a multimeter and wiring diagrams
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience with MS Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Automotive bodyshop repair experience
  • ASE certified
  • Experience with CATIA V5/V6
  • Experience with JIRA
  • Driving truck and trailer experience
