About This Role
As a Senior Mapping & Localization Software Engineer, you will research, design, develop and maintain our large-scale mapping and real-time localization subsystems. You will work on a small, highly focused team producing high-quality software that powers the next generation of our autonomous vehicles operating in complex indoor and outdoor environments.

Candidates for this position will also be considered for Tech-lead distinction as well as future people management.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Prototype, design, develop, and deploy software for mapping and localization subsystems
  • Build infrastructure for continuous testing, performance validation, and system maintenance
  • Balance research, cross-domain resources, and product-driven milestones while producing robust, well-tested code
  • Stay abreast of relevant state-of-the-art technologies and research community advances to inform potential system improvements

    Qualifications

     

  • MS/Ph.D. in Computer Science, Robotics, similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience
  • 3+ years experience writing C++ code in a production environment — unit testing, code review, algorithm performance, trade-offs, etc.
  • Proven experience designing, implementing, and extending novel algorithms
  • Deep understanding of state estimation techniques, SLAM, and 3D geometric computer vision (nonlinear optimization, probabilistic filtering, and machine learning)
  • Experience working with data from various sensor types – IMU, LiDAR, cameras, GPS, wheel encoders, etc.
  • Exposure to modern software development version control and project management tools – Git, Jira, etc.
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills

    Bonus Qualifications

     

  • Experience with autonomous robotic vehicles
  • Experience working with ROS to design, build, and operate robotic systems
  • Exposure to techniques for automating the detection of map changes and performing updates in highly dynamic environments
  • Experience designing metrics for algorithm validation
  • Experience with real-time sensor calibration and sensor misalignment algorithms
  • Salary range

     

  • $180,000 to $240,000 base salary (highly experienced)
