Cruise is seeking a Staff Component Technical Lead to own the development of our Infotainment solutions. In this position, you will be responsible for delivering the core hardware that enables our autonomous vehicles to communicate with our customers; informing them of their trip details, providing confidence with situational awareness, and entertaining them with media streaming.  You will collaborate and drive discussions with our internal Product Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, Test Engineering, Functional Safety, Cybersecurity, Program Management, and Supply Chain teams. You will also be responsible for interfacing with external partners and suppliers to ensure that the hardware meets our functional and performance requirements while maintaining cost and timing targets.
What you’ll be doing:
  • Partner with Supply Chain Management to collaborate and manage our suppliers through proof-of-concept, EV, DV, and PV seeking opportunities to reduce hardware development and unit costs
  • Partner with Technical Project Management to track timelines, burn down risks, and seek opportunities in features and timing
  • Collaborate with Product / UX Subject Matter Experts, Systems Engineering, and Architecture teams within Cruise and GM to drive the requirements definition, analysis, development and documentation of component technical specifications and validating their integration into the broader functional system requirements
  • Collaborate with Product, Safety, Reliability, Security, and Legal stakeholders to ensure that the product meets all regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with Electrical Engineering, Embedded Software, Mechanical Engineering to ensure that the technical implementation fulfills the requirements and drive technical risks and issues to solution 
What you must have:
  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering
  • 8+ years of postgraduate experience with developing audio visual hardware 
  • 5+ years experience bridging the gap between Mechanical, Electrical, and Embedded Software Engineering disciplines
  • 5+ years experience working with and managing relationships with domestic and international manufacturers in CM, ODM, and JDM models. 
  • Experience with requirements definition
  • Experience with EMC and Environmental compliance 
  • Technical expert in state-of-the-art SoCs, displays, amplifiers, and speakers that comprise the architecture of Infotainment solutions 
  • Design and certification experience with standards; WiFi 802.11, Bluetooth, and USB
  • Familiarity with Infotainment audio/visual interfaces; MIPI, FPD-Link, and A2B 
  • Excellent project management and supply chain management skills and tool experience

  • Automotive experience with ISO26262 and AEC-Q100/200
  • Experience with developing Infotainment
