We’re searching for a Hardware Test and Data Analytics Engineer. The primary objective of this role is to support manufacturing from a test and automation perspective in the development and production of the Aurora’s FirstLight LiDAR and delivering the benefits of self-driving technology safely, quickly, and broadly. A successful candidate is data-driven, excels at complex problem solving, has a strong engineering background with software and hardware skills, product focused mindset, and can lead cross-functional efforts.
In this role, you will
- Develop data infrastructure to support our LiDAR manufacturing workflow, including data collection, processing, evaluation, and optimization
- Data management and analysis to track production test performance metrics, prioritize top issues, and drive continuous improvement activities with cross-functional teams
- Surface succinct, actionable data widely in regularly updated dashboards
- Assist in the development of advanced test tools/methods (HW and SW) to automate testing for LiDAR manufacturing
- Closely collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and quality teams to develop test requirements, standards, and product test plans to ensure products will meet requirements
- Work on continuous improvement of manufacturing test processes and procedures
Required Qualifications
- B.S. in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience with data processing frameworks and storage engines
- Practical knowledge of common data analysis, inference, and statistical modeling tools, including Python
- Self-starter who will see opportunities to apply capabilities that add value throughout the organization
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience with Linux operating systems
- Experience with Google Suite (Sheets, Docs, Slides, Gmail)
- Enthusiasm for applying data science at scale to the toughest challenges in autonomous driving
Desirable Qualifications
- M.S. or PhD in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience in AWS
- Experience in SQL
- Experience with Plex
- Familiarity with FMCW LiDAR and/or RF transceivers.
- Experience with optical system prototyping and characterization
- Experience in modern automotive electronics and diagnostic procedures
- Ability to travel to company locations in the continental U.S.
The base salary range for this position is $87,000 – $130,000 per year. Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
